When we refer to the plays we produce for mainly adult audiences, we use the term "Main Stage" with some degree of reluctance, because it implies that this is the most important aspect of our theater. It is not. We see all our components as equal. In addition, we believe the stage offers unique possibilities which film and television cannot match. The latter are essentially visual media; and while many exciting visual elements can be employed in the theater, it is still the place where language reigns supreme. Whether it is Shakespeare or Shaw, Becket or Mamet, live theater cherishes the spoken word. Therefore, we intend to focus on works rich in language, with visual elements that are most powerful when experienced in live performance; and where the audience is truly a collaborator in the unfolding theatrical event.
